It has been an absolute honor to serve those experiencing homelessness in Whatcom County through Light Hose Mission. I pitched an art program to leadership and set to work gathering supplies and getting training to be in the space properly. The results have been incredible sessions of transformation and healing through creation, and I can say I am also being transformed.
We have worked in the Agape home as well as in the Basecamp area. I feel at homie with these lovely humans who are very loving and grateful to have access to the supplies and our love for them. Some want to clean or help to “earn” the right to even touch the supplies. When they hear us say: “This is for you. Have a seat at the table. What are you going to make?” There is peace and at times uncertainty at how to be where they are free. The art they make is beautiful. I learn so much each time.
